At what age would you trust a child to use AI? Or trust AI around a child???

Not until mid-teens, I think they'd get lost in the fact that it can come across very personable and might take things too far, treat it like an "imaginary friend" situation which just isn't healthy.  So I'd wait for mid-teens at least so they can understand AI with some context.

I feel like even mid-teens is dangerous. There are already lawsuits against AI from parents of children/teens who unalived themselves after conversations with AI. I don't recommend it for children of any age, at all.

Thinking back from when I was younger, I would have loved to have had AI help me figure things out, like education, what book to read next, and to help me create my own craft designs.

Now, my own daughter, she had some relationship issues with friends in high school, so I agree that as a teen, AI could be very dangerous!

That's a very, very valid point right there.  So maybe AI should be 18+, just to be safe, or 13+ with supervision.

It shouldn't be too early. I see small kids already using the phones like a pro, but understanding is different. Maybe, from 12 or so, with guidance. If not, they will think AI is always right and stop thinking for themselves.

AI is great if used correctly, for what its intended for. Honestly, with the boom in AI, kids are going to get their hands on it. There are safeguards in place, now that things have happened, but there are always loopholes in systems. Super smart kids can and will figureout how to get around age restrictions. As such, I think it would be a good idea to implement some sort of training in schools for kids on appropriate usage of AI. It won't eliminate the dangers completely, but if the understand what it should and should not be used for, there will be a less likely chance something bad happens because of AI.
